Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) - the Metro Chamber of Commerce is focused on growing the regional economy. This position will assists with GLI's legislative agenda by analyzing and tracking legislation, lobbying and planning events.


  1. Track, read, evaluate and draft legislation
  2. Work with GLI members to uncover policy-based obstacles to economic growth and develop legislative position statements to address those obstacles.
  3. Research and analyze public policy issues
  4. Lobby local, state and federal officials
  5. Attend committee meetings and summarize content
  6. Update membership on bills and issues during the General Assembly
  7. Organize GLI's grassroots efforts
  8. Assist the Events team with Government Affairs related events and programming
  9. Perform other duties as assigned


Bachelor's degree and 4 years government affairs or public policy experience. A combination of education and experience may be substituted when proficiency is demonstrated.

Strong understanding of the local legislative process.

A demonstrated existing network of professional relationships with elected officials at the local, state and federal levels.

Strong written and oral communications skills.

Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with top level executives. Practical political experience preferred. The incumbent must have computer skills. Experience with the following types of software and/or Windows based applications is preferred: word processing, databases, Internet, e-mail.
